Editor’s Note: This is the fifth in a series of 18 stories about this semester’s Principal’s Recognition Award winners who were recognized on Wednesday, April 20 for outstanding achievement in specific programs. Senior Kendall Barnes received the Fine & Applied Arts-Culinary Award and was nominated by Ms. Kaitlin Romanchuk and Ms.

The principal’s award from the culinary arts department was won by senior Kendall Barnes. Barnes’s determination encouraged him to work harder and be the best he could be.

Barnes’s is a part of cooking instructors Ms. Kaitlin Romanchuk and Ms. Maria Kelly‘s class and they both felt that Barnes was the best student to receive the award.

“We nominated him because he is the kind of student who will stay after and see if we need help with anything. He’s very determined and his work in class shows that. he’s passionate about culinary and he deserves to be recognized for his work,” Kelly said.

Barnes is beyond ecstatic that he received the award and really feels that it not only showcases his work ethic, but his ability to test his boundaries and be recognized for it.

“It was a great moment for me. When I saw my teacher coming up to me, it felt really good. I worked so hard for this. I paid attention in class and did what I needed to do so to be recognized for this makes me feel like I’m doing something right and there is no better feeling,” Barnes said.
