College Night to be Held Tomorrow

Niles Wests annual College Fair hosts up to 250 different schools.
Niles West’s annual College Fair hosts up to 250 different schools.

The 39th annual College Night will be held at Niles West on Wednesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. Representatives come from across the nation to meet at Niles West to display their college to students and their families.

“The colleges give the students quick information and the basics about the college and answer the students questions that they may have. The students could also sign up for the college’s mailing list so they can receive emails on up to date information about the college,” college and career counselor Daniel Gin said.

Students said that College Night is a great opportunity to see colleges they are interested in.

“Junior year I went to college night and I learned more about the colleges I had in mind which were Depaul, Mizzou, and Oakton. Going to College Night helped me understand more about those colleges by summarizing what the college is about,” senior Stuart Bekanon explained.

Students also found College Night helpful with learning about the college process.

“College Night has been really helpful for me and I got a good perspective on many colleges. I got the chance to have a one on one talk with experts about college and it made me more relaxed during the whole [college] process,” senior Chelsea DeLeon said.

Every year there is an average of about 4,000 people that go to college night. Also, there are about 25 new colleges that come along with 250 colleges that come from the previous year, according to Gin.
