The 56th commencement ceremony for the graduating class of 2017 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 28 at 3:00 p.m. The graduation ceremony will be held in Niles West’s Basrak Football Stadium. The graduates are to report to the tennis courts no later than 2:30 p.m. on the day of graduation. Here are some other important things going on in the upcoming weeks that you need to know:
.) Cap and Gown Distribution – If you haven’t purchased a cap and gown yet, they will be available for purchase on May 19 for $50, cash only. Purchased caps and gowns will be distributed outside of the main gym during all lunch periods on Friday, May 19, and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 26.
.) Dress Code – Boys should dress in a shirt and tie, dress slacks, and dress shoes. Girls should wear a light colored dress, skirt or dress slacks, and a blouse along with dress shoes — no shorts, jeans, flip flops, or gym shoes. Students should not bring any purses or bags of any kind with them, as there will be no place to store them.
.) Rehearsal – It is mandatory to attend rehearsal. Rehearsal will be held on the football field on Friday, May 26 at 8:00 a.m., weather permitting. Otherwise, the rehearsal will take place in the Field House.
.) Diplomas – Diplomas will be available after the ceremony in the Black Box theatre. Only graduates will be allowed to pick up their diplomas. If the ceremony is held indoors, diplomas will be available to be picked up in the Field House.
