Tell No One, Mystery’s Finest

Tell No One, Mysterys Finest

In honor of National Library Week, which was celebrated last week, I thought I’d review a classic, suspense novel by bestselling author Harlan Coben.

Tell No One” tells the story of Dr. David Beck, once married to the love of his life, Elizabeth Parker until their 15th anniversary where Elizabeth goes missing and turns up dead after a few weeks. Eight years later David is guilt ridden, wishing he could have helped his wife more on that fateful night. On their (would have been) 21st anniversary, David gets a suspicious email with a cryptic message that only and he and Elizabeth would understand.

David doesn’t understand how the mystery could turn up eight years later. He thought it all had been solved. When Elizabeth’s body was found, she had been branded with the letter K on her cheek, indicating that she had been a victim to a murderer named KillRoy, a man who targeted young women. But then he wonders what if it wasn’t KillRoy and what if somehow, Elizabeth was still alive?

This novel was one of the best I’ve ever read because it was suspense at its finest. It was a bit frustrating because I was so anxious to find out what happened, but I just couldn’t skip over to the last chapter. One of the best parts of Tell No One was the characters. They all had such different personalities and lives, yet, each character had a different story line that somehow tied into the plot. Just think of one of your favorite crime investigation shows, and how it starts with an innocent victim, slain, and after meeting the people in the victim’s life, you learn that the murder wasn’t just a homicide, but there was so much more. That is exactly how “Tell No One” was.

Mystery novels are the most underrated genre of books, but people should give mystery novels more of a chance because they turn out to be really good. It was important for me to catch every detail within the first few chapters because I didn’t want to miss any details that would become necessary to the plot later, but once the story began to unfold, I didn’t want to put it down. I would definitely recommend any novel by Harlan Coben to everyone because they are original and great reads.
