Varsity Football Season Cut Short

Varsity+Football+Season+Cut+Short

Unfortunately this will not be the year for the Wolves, as this is the first time in four years that they did not qualify for the IHSA playoffs. In order to qualify for playoffs the IHSA requires each team to either win their conference, or end their season with a record consisting of more than five wins which the Wolves did not do. The Wolves finished the season with a record of 2-7.

Last years team was strong offensively and defensively, and coaches didn’t think that this was going to be the year were they didn’t make the playoffs.

“We started off the end of last year looking forward to this year and we thought that we had a chance to win six games, but unfortunately due to injuries and with some things that happened it just didn’t work out the way we planned it,”  head coach Scott Baum said.

This years loss has brought the idea of change into the minds of the Wolves coaching staff.

“Looking at the off season we plan, on having our players putting in more hours in the weight room to become much stronger and faster and most of all work on leadership as that is a big responsibility that needs to be filled,” Baum said.

This season was a rebuilding year, as the team’s starters were primarily juniors.

Coach Baum along with the team is optimistic for next season, and ready to make a bold run in post season play.
