It’d be nice to have a random column about random events that are headlines everywhere every week/month….I feel like most people only know what’s going on in our community or in the US…..the world is really bigger than that! Maybe a column on world news?

Please rewrite a review for Wow Bao restraunt and set some one capable for the job. I’m not saying order everything on the menu to have a good review of the place but at least order 3 or 4 different meals to get an idea like how the other writers did- not just one dish of buns

They wrote a review and it was good. A review is the author’s opinion and it doesn’t have to be positive. Unless you want to pay for the meals, that review is probably the only one that’ll be written. They’re high school students, you’re acting a bit stuck-up and pretentious, eh?

You all need to do some stories about fun/safe places for high school students to go explore in Chicago. There was recently an article on here about how a new chicken place at Old Orchard brings culture to the area. You guys gotta get out an explore more and not be at old orchard. Some safe bets are the neighborhoods near Loyola, Depaul and UIC. You can easily get to all 3 on the L and since these are college neighborhoods they’re pretty safe for high school students. There’s a popular brunch place and an ethiopian place near the Granville L stop by Loyola. There are a bunch of cool restaurants in Little Italy and Greektown and University Village by UIC. Write about these places and go explore. Don’t go to old orchard.

Hi will there be a preview of the boys swim team? Many people from tbis past meet were excited about the potential this season, especially from the 500 free, 100 fly and relay teams. There is one or two returning swimmers and and a freshman who could go far this season. Please post an article about them! Thank you!

There is a new astronomy club that is starting next week on tuesday at 1:00 pm in the chem lab. We want to one day be astronauts and touch the stars above. Please help us by publicizing our club and make this dream of ours a reality.

PS: you have a very good website i am jelly

You never post any news anymore. All you do is write profiles of students. Lots of stuff has been happening both in skokie, nationally, and with niles west and district 219 but none of this stuff becomes stories.

If there is something specific that you think is happening that should be covered, it would be helpful for you to give us your input! Also make sure to check out all of the breaking news stories we have been publishing the past few weeks. We do have a political reporter on staff who is covering national stories.

The middle eastern club will be going to the night ministry in Uptown Chicago this Sunday and will be working with the organization and will physically give there own donations of all sorts of food and supplies to the homeless. A story to go with the generous clubs mission would be very nice and informative. More can be learned about night ministry at

How about a story about the jazz band? There are some interesting people with great comments to tell!

I was thinking you guys could maybe do like a monthly poll kind of a thing. Decide ONE QUESTION (like president election) and then do a voting on it. The topic should be something popular going on this is the larger society these days. I think this can actually make students be aware of major or popular things in the today’s society.

Pls cover more stories on the swim team. The Olympics are next year and swimming is one of the marquee events. We have a good girls and boys team! We like football and basketball too, it would just be nice to give equal attention to this sport. Thank you.

Can you do a story about the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in 2016? The city of Chicago is bringing in actors, musicians, and artists from all over the world to have hundreds of events honoring it, and Mayor Emmanuel gave a press conference announcing it. We are going to do some activities here at NW too, culminating in a “birthday party” in April.

Thank you for suggesting that! We’ll be sure to do what we can and hopefully write about it.

You should do some reviews of restaurants in Chicago so students can go start seeing the city.

Do an article about taking the CTA. I bet a lot of students have never done this. You can take the Yellow Line to Howard, take the 97 Bus to Howard, or you can take a Pace bus that runs through skokie to the Jefferson Park blue line station.

You can easily take the L to go hang out in the neighborhoods around UIC, Depaul and Loyola. Lots of good stuff in those areas.

Starting today and for the rest of November, there is a solo gallery show in the Literacy Center for Senior AP 2-D Design student Francesca Guinta. Her work is really cool…NWN should check it out! There will be a new show every month.

    1. How the budget cuts are affecting different programs and the students involved (particularly fine arts, field trips)
    2. Nicole Camburn going to state for cross country
    3. Current Events
    4. Politics (presidential candidates: include summary of what the candidate’s issues are and also students that support these various candidates. I think there can be a respectful discussion about this. We are mature enough to hold debates without attacking people personally)
    5. Constructive criticism for the school. I know you can’t negatively talk about the school, but I still think that there can be open discussion how certain issues are affecting students and what can be done to fix these issues.
    6. Profiles on teachers
    7. Let students write guest articles. I know that a lot of students would be interested in writing a blog but don’t have time to take the class.

I would like to suggest that you do an article on sophomore, Christopher Witt. He is a bassoonist with the Chicago Youth Symphony orchestra. This is one of the top performing groups in the state for youth musicians and it’s a huge honor and commitment outside of school. Plus, bassoon is a rare (and awesome) instrument to play.

The PACE (Politics and Current Events) Club is underrated. One, it isn’t even listed on the Club & Activities website. Two, many students don’t even know it exists. It’d be great if the Niles West News made an article about this club. I’m pretty sure there are plenty of students interested in politics that would love to join!

Thank you for your suggestion. We will be publishing an article very soon regarding this club.

I’d just like to suggest that you guys do Freshman Friday stories on the freshmen that AREN’T well-known. Doing them on the more popular kids defeats the purpose of getting to know them because they’re already known. Additionally, having those “populars” write for the paper — while understandable because it gets the word spread — will most likely end with them featuring their friends and not people who legitimately have something interesting to say. Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s the beginning of the school year and we will definitely be covering more people.

To add on to this- a lot of the feature articles I see here are done on the writers’ friends or peers in the NWN.
