Peace Love Chic: Heat on Your Hair

Peace+Love+Chic%3A+Heat+on+Your+Hair

It’s common knowledge that heat will damage your hair. Your hair is just like your skin, and burning it with tools doesn’t feel good at all. So, try not to do things to your hair that you wouldn’t do to your skin.

Using a heat protector should be necessary if you plan to apply heat to your hair- it’s like putting on oven mitts before you touch a burning pan. After putting a heat protector on, don’t put the hot tool on right away because your hair could be damp. Brush it out a little, and wait around two minutes and your hair will thank you.

There are also so many ways to do your hair without using heat. Some do take time, or are required to be damp, but that’s fine.

One way to style your hair without any heat is to braid it. It’s best if your hair is damp before braiding, but if you sleep in the braid overnight, the next morning your hair will take little to no time to do, and it’ll look good. Braiding is so simple, yet offers so many different styles of waves. The tighter the braid, the tighter the wave. The looser the braid, the looser the wave.

Pinning your hair up in a twisty braid when your hair is damp is also great. Bobby pin your hair up into the twisty/ballerina bun and then sleep on it. When your wake up, and you undo the bun, your hair will be voluminous and textured.

A huge step for no heat hairstyles is to embrace your natural hair! Wavy, straight, curly, or a little bit of everything mixed is all totally fine. Who cares if it’s a little flat or a little poofy? Work it, and be confident with it.

Although heat is okay every once in awhile, every single day will damage your hair beyond belief. Yes, grabbing a heat tool is always what most people want to do, but there are so many alternatives.
