Makeup Monday: Contouring

Makeup+Monday%3A+Contouring

Contouring has been a rising trend that has changed the way we apply makeup and how we look afterwards. A darker, matte powder is used under the cheekbones, jawline, hairline, and even the nose to slim the face and enhance facial structure overall.

Contouring has become very popular and has a special way of changing the whole look of your face. You are able to add definition and carve parts of your face to enhance certain facial features. With just the power and art of makeup, you can alter the shape of your face.

The best technique for contouring is using a cream or powdered product that is a shade or two darker than your skin tone. The product should also have a matte finish and be pretty well blended in order to mimic a natural shadow, and it should not attract too much attention or be overly noticeable.

Some of the most popular contouring palette are the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit and the Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette, which are both priced around $40-45.

Some tools that are frequently used to apply contour are an angled or a rectangular brush to create a thin and precise line, but with an angled brush, it can be too dense and pick up too much product. When contouring, just remember to keep it simple, and follow the flowing lines of your cheeks.
