Q&A with the Homecoming King and Queen

Spirit Week: Homecoming CoronationCongratulations to seniors Casey Mahoney-Muno and Jewell Loyd for winning Homecoming King and Queen this year! The NWN made sure to ask them a few questions about their Homecoming experience.

NWN: Well first off, how does it feel to win?

Casey: It feels awesome! I was really happy that I ended up winning.

Jewell: Yeah, it’s a pretty good feeling! This was such a great opportunity.

NWN: Were you surprised that you won?

Casey: Oh definitely! I didn’t expect to win, especially since it was so competitive with the guys I was running against, but thanks to everyone who voted!

Jewell: Yes! It was so exciting up on stage and everyone did such a nice job. I knew it would be a really close race.

NWN: Do you think it will be hard wearing the crown/tiara all day?

Casey: Uh probably. The cape already fell off of me like twice and I’m guessing the crown will fall a couple times throughout the day too.

Jewell: Oh yeah! I’ll probably forget it’s there and drop it accidentally.

NWN: What are you looking most forward to for homecoming?

Casey: I love the pep assembly and how everyone gets so hyped up! I really want orchesis to perform there if we can. I’m also going to miss the dance because it’s like one of my favorite things to do.

Jewell:  Um, probably the dance. It’s just because it’s our last one and it’s just a really great event to be apart of.

NWN: If you could be any faculty member in the school for a day, who would it be and why?

Casey: I’d like to be Mrs. Kanwischer just because she’s such a great teacher and a lot of fun, while at the same time she’s kind of laid back too.

Jewell: Ms. Ogulnik because she’s a boss! And because she’s such a hard worker and a cool person to be around.

NWN: What’s your favorite part of Niles West? What will you miss when you leave?

Casey: I love the environment here! I’m going to miss all my friends and the sports and just the whole idea of being a member of the Wolves. It’s a great school.

Jewell: Of course I’m going to miss the community of Niles West and all the great people here!
